Dr. Xue’s research interest is in the field of nanotoxicology including investigation of toxicological effects of engineering nanomaterials in vitro and in vivo by using cell and animal models. Recent researches focus on safety evaluation and risk assessment of nanoparticles, such as silver nanoparticle, which is the most commonly used elements in nanotechnology.Owing to the diversity of nanoparticle properties, such as size, shape, surface chemistry, composition, etc., their toxic potentials to the human health and environment are complicated.Toxicological information of biokinetics and biodistribution is vital for the toxicity evaluation and risk assessment. Physiologically based toxicokinetic (PBTK) models of nanoparticles may serve as powerful tools to interpret a huge of experimental data, thus shedding light on the future use of products and medicine containing nanomaterials. Recent Research Projects: [1] Study on biodistribution of metal nanoparticles and their toxicities on target cells. Provincial Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu (No. BK2011606).
